This collection houses a series of Vignettes produced by the University Historian's Office and printed in various campus publications. Each vignette constitutes a short article discussing an aspect of University of Tennessee history, for example past presidents, notable faculty, buildings, and student perspectives. Each folder contains draft and final copies of a single Vignette in addition to the research materials used to write it. The collection also contains correspondence related to the Vignettes, including reactions from relatives of the Vignettes' topics and suggested corrections from interested University employees and community members. Researchers should note that the date attached to each Vignette generally refers to the year(s) in which the Vignette was circulated, not the date of the Vignette’s content, which is often broader in scope.
