Letter, A. F. Bellingrath to the U.T. Alumni Association, 1933 September 4
This collection houses two letters, one certificate, and one advertisement documenting the University of Tennessee during the 1880s. Guy B. Wetzell wrote the first letter to his friend A. F. Bellingrath on October 5, 1887. In it, he discusses his service as a U.T. cadet, lists the officers of the various companies, describes the activities of the Chi Delta literary society, and mentions the local women. A. F. Bellingrath wrote the second letter to the U.T. Alumni Association in 1933. It describes a boat trip that Bellingrath, W. W. Watkins, and Wetzell made to Chattanooga in June of 1887 as well as Wetzell's drowning death on June 4, 1888. The First Grade teaching certificate was granted to Miss E. R. Browne of Memphis, Tennessee in 1881, and the advertisement promotes a match between the Boston Bloomer Girls and the U.T. Boys' Varsity basketball team.
