This collection contains the transcription of a letter written to President James Monroe by General Andrew Jackson in January of 1815. The document contains Jackson's description of the Battle of New Orleans, including Jackson's narrative timeline, the number of dead and wounded (on both sides), and atmosphere of the battle. The original letter was written in 1815, but it is unknown when this copy was transcribed. The letter is five pages long. A brief forward explaining the context of the letter was written by the transcriber.
