Van Vactor compositions, arrangements, personal articles, and notes, 1926-1984, undated
Includes manuscripts and published scores of Van Vactor’s compositions, his arrangements of other works, copies of his scores as used for conducting the KSO concerts, and works by his composition students and classes. Most of the compositions have “M” numbers assigned by the catalogers in the 1990s. The works that do not have “M” numbers were additions to the collection after 1993. They have been placed at the end of each composition section. The Van Vactor cataloguers also assigned numbers, 001-899, to works by other composers. Those numbers have been included for reference within the entire collection. Subseries G includes scores of other composers and Van Vactor’s former students that are unpublished or have personal notes written on them. Conductor scores (Subseries F) are alphabetical, also with reference numbers when available. Subseries H was merged with a pre-existing collection of correspondence and articles. It includes Roger Rhodes correspondence, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra information, along with other personal articles and reviews from 1926-1984, some undated.
