P. S. Atchley Poem and Letters, 1866 April 21-1878 February 22
This collection consists of a poem and two letters. P. S. Atchley wrote the poem, which describes a Union soldier saying goodbye to "Dear Brother Green" as he dies in battle, for Aunt Mariah Hodges on April 21, 1866. A typescript of this document is also present. The first letter, from Sister Julia in Marietta, Georgia, is dated April 28-29, 1882 and describes the reaction to Juan running off with the "married washerwoman." The second, written by Side or Lide, is dated February 22, 1878 and announces the death of sister Mary.
