This collection consists of a letter written by Aaron Eley to his father, dated April 20, 1863. The letter describes Eley's unit's camp at the depot at Murfreesboro, Tennessee and the fortification of Vicksburg, Mississippi by the Confederate forces. The letter also describes the town of Murfreesboro, particularly the number of refugees and deserters from the Confederate Army and the relatively large African-American population of the town.
