James K. Polk Letter, 1832 November 2
This collection contains a letter written by James K. Polk to an unidentified recipient on November 2, 1832. The letter is written from Columbia, Tennessee and discusses the education of Polk's younger brother, William Hawkins Polk. Polk describes William's good character and intelligence and writes that he has written to a Mr. Bingham in Hillsborough, North Carolina, asking that William be admitted to Bingham's preparatory school before attending university. Polk also reminds the recipient of an offer the recipient issued in another letter about serving as a guardian for William while at school. The collection is housed in a decorative casing.
