This collection consists of several letters and photographs and a genealogy of the Seymour family of Madisonville, Kentucky and East Tennessee. The correspondence dates between December 27, 1861 and April 23, 1914. The letters are written primarily by Charles Seymour to his grandchildren, especially his grandson Charles M. Seymour. Most of these letters are written from Madisonville, Kentucky or from Knoxville, Tennessee. Other letters are written by Emily Seymour of Yorkshire, England. There are also two letters from Knoxville, Tennessee, written to Captain Samuel R. Bachman concerning military expenditures. The collection also includes several undated photographs of members of the Seymour family as well as a copy of the Seymour family genealogy.
