This collection consists of John E. Lane's short memoir about his experiences as a private in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, beginning in June 1944. The memoir provides details about boot camp as well as Lane's experience aboard the USS Hinsdale, a troop ship sent to Iwo Jima. The manuscript is 98 pages long and includes several appendices.
