This collection consists of John E. Lane's short memoir about his experiences as a private in the United States Marine Corps beginning in June of 1944. The memoir provides details about boot camp as well as Lane's experience aboard the USS Hinsdale, a troop ship sent to Iwo Jima. The manuscript is 98 pages long and includes several appendices including a bibliography.
