Charles S. Linday Interview Transcript, 1987 October 29
This collection consists of a manuscript titled, Charles S. Lindsay, Bomb Disposal Officer Coming of Age in Okinawa by Paul N. Birdwell and Charles S. Lindsay's memoir South of Yontan Okinawa. Paul Birdwell’s manuscript includes biographical information about Charles, a brief history of the Bomb Disposal Unit to which he belonged, and a narrative of his time in Okinawa and Naha, Japan during World War II. The manuscript also includes photographs of the area, a suicide boat, and the Bomb Unit completing missions and disabling bombs, as well as maps and footnotes. Charles Lindsay’s memoir includes a firsthand account of his experience in combat along with photographs of the Guadalcanal, fellow Marines, and the Bomb Disposal Unit disabling various bombs and other projectiles, as well as maps of Okinawa. Also included is a transcript of an interview with Charles S. Lindsay by Paul N. Birdwell.
