Correspondence, circa 1942-1943
This collection consists of military documents, yearbooks, photographs, and correspondence which document Dewey E. Crowe’s service in the United States Air Force during World War II. Crowe served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Force from 1941-1942. His service was short-lived; during an attack in Alaska, his P-38 collided head on with another P-38 during a dogfight with a Japanese aircraft. The military documents contain materials such as his identification card and military certificates. The yearbooks and photographs document his graduation and personal images from his service. Crowe had written most of the correspondences to his parents back in Johnson City, Tennessee and they document his experiences in the service.
