Ancestors and Genealogy, 1803-1998 June 9, undated
This collection includes many materials from Creekmore’s writing career, from her childhood publications to her very successful books about Knoxville history. Supporting papers include notes, drafts, photographs, correspondence, financial documents, and publicity materials. In addition to these published works, the collection includes some of her prolific output for friends and family, and papers for a few books that were not accepted for publication.
The personal papers in Series I include family correspondence, photographs, and mementos. These include birth announcements, a teaching certificate from 1898, documents from Stella Vaugh’s career as a postmaster, diplomas, passports, membership certificates, and more. Records from Creekmore’s civic engagement come from her work with the Garden Club, Dogwood Arts Festival, Junior League, and various historic concerns for parts of Knoxville’s heritage. These include news clippings, correspondence, guidebooks, site plans, publicity materials, and programs.
Oversize items are drawn from previous series, and include photographs, scrapbooks, mementos, and land deeds.
