This scrapbook, put together by Walter C. Johnson, Sr., contains various articles that concern the Knoxville, TN branches of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor (YPSCE). Most of the articles are clippings from the Knoxville News Sentinel in the year 1896. They cover a variety of topics, including local officer elections and reelections, as well as national conventions that many Knoxville YPSCE members attended.

The majority of the articles contain information on the 15th International YPSCE Convention that was held in Washington, DC in July 1896. Delegates from the Knoxville YPSCE attended this convention, and the articles outline the major events of the convention. In addition to the convention coverage by the News Sentinel, included are clippings from the Washington, DC newspaper, the Evening Star. Additional articles include one on a speech Booker T. Washington gave the YPSCE as well as some on a Maryville YPSCE convention for Knoxville members.
