This subseries contains Wilma Dykeman’s manuscripts for her books published within the first two decades of her writing career beginning with The French Broad (1955) and ending with Tennessee Women: Past and Present (1977). The subseries also holds James R. Stokely Jr.’s drafts for a play based on Thomas Wolfe’s Look Homeward, Angel, and an edited version of Wolfe’s Between Time and the River, an unpublished novel that would later be published as Of Time and the River.
