New York City Coroner Reports, 1796-1804
Nine handwritten reports, each signed and sealed by the men who were charged to participate:
-August 19, 1796, Robert Wilson fell from a ship and drowned – William Ellsworth, coroner.
-October 17, 1796, John Sheene drowned while trying to swim from a ship – Charles Dickinson, coroner.
-January 30, 1798, A yellow woman froze on the road – Charles Dickinson, coroner.
-November 16, 1801, Henry Beadle died of grief and neglect – Jonathan P. Pearss, coroner.
-October 31, 1801, An unnamed woman died of a convulsion brought on by intoxication – Jonathan P. Pearss, coroner.
-January 10, 1802, John Cameron fell from a boat and was crushed between it and another – Jonathan P. Pearss, coroner.
-April 2, 1802, John Harpert, an infant, was run over by a cart – Jonathan P. Pearss, coroner.
-June 5, 1804, Alexander Lamb shot himself in the head while in Debtor’s Gaol – John Burger, coroner.
-November 29, 1804, Nancy Navarra drank arsenic – John Burger, coroner.
