"Fall of Germany" Leaflet, circa 1945
This collection contains eleven American propaganda pamphlets aimed at encouraging Japanese troops to surrender during World War II. These pamphlets are written in Japanese with English translations attached. The pamphlets promise good treatment for prisoners of war and encourage soldiers to surrender. The leaflets also accuse Japanese army generals and militants of causing the duration of the war's focus in the Philippines and Pacific Ocean area. Many leaflets advertise the fair treatment given to Japanese prisoners of war as an incentive for soldiers to abandon their units and defect.
