The Walter Goolsby Collection includes correspondence to family and other officers, newspapers, photographs, and military and veteran documents from the 1940s and the late 1980s.

Series I: Correspondence and Communications includes letters written to his family, letters from friends and family, transcripts and papers from a 1987 Reunion, and a Christmas card.

Series II: Newspapers and Photographs includes several photographs and news clippings. Some of these documents are photocopies.

Series III: Military Documents and Booklets includes several instruction manuals and encyclopedias for forces in Hawaii, lists of dates and places travelled, several U.S. Naval documents, and multiple Japanese documents.

Series IV: Veteran Documents includes documents for soldiers as the exit active service alongside other material including a Christmas service bulletin, handwritten notes, and a digest of Tennessee State laws.
