"Barriers to Research" Study, 1976 August 6
This collection houses memoranda, reports, minutes, agendas, reports, membership information, resolutions, by-laws, and other materials documenting the University of Tennessee's Faculty Senate activities dating from 1936 to the present. The collection also includes materials documenting the Faculty Senate Research Council’s work between 1973 and 1990, and research files from the Senate Joint Committee investigating religion on campus. Of particular interest are the papers showing Billy Graham's visit to campus on May 28, 1970. Graham's friend Richard Nixon made a presentation at the rally, and a number of faculty and students who protested the President were arrested.
