1920s Sheet Music, for piano and voice, 1925-1929
A collection of sheet music from George Novotny from his time working as a vaudeville musician. The pieces were all published between 1873 and 1957. Most were written for piano or piano and voice, but many later pieces have chord parts for guitar or ukulele, expressed in diagrams, symbols, or both. There are also two teaching books for piano technique.
Many pieces have one of several names written on the front, including "Arlie Meyers," "Mildred (Millie) Sanders," "Fred Gordon," or "George Novotny." Some are also incribed with other names, personal notes, or markings related to performance of the piece. Additionally, some pieces have stamps on their covers or first pages indicating the store and location where it was sold, mainly Iowa or other places in the midwestern United States.
