This collection contains two handwritten letters from soldier Charles Morris written in 1864 and 1865 from east Tennessee. The letters are addressed to his brother and sister in South Wales, New York. Both letters are written to "Dear Brother and Sister" and addressed to Mr. and Ms. Benson. Both letters are written on United States Christian Commission stationery and include their envelopes. The first letter, written April 11, 1864, is written from Knoxville and Morris discusses some of the hardships of being a soldier as well as spending an evening guarding a prison. The second letter, written June 9, 1865, is written from Greeneville and discusses the weather.
