This collection consists of combined materials from AR.0354, .0515, .0572, .0605 of Joe Johnson’s materials during his time at the University of Tennessee and his time as system president. The combined collection includes three series of Correspondence, Speaking Engagements, and Reading Files compiled during his time as system president.

The first series is the correspondence from Johnson's time as system president. Most notably this series contains materials regarding the firing of head football coach Johnny Majors. The second series contains notes, written speeches, and programs from speaking engagements during Johnson's time as university and system president. The last series are the reading files from office of the president. The files have been organized by Johnson's secretary by their subject matter and in this collection have been seperated by year (1991-1992).
