To all to whom these presents shall come…Greeting:
Know ye, That By virtue of certificate No 6698 dated the 20th day of September 1824 Issued by the Register of West Tennessee to H. Troth, H D. M. Broom, and James Barkley for three acres and entered on the 3d day of May 1825 by No 1712
there is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto William Polk a signee of said Troth, Broom, & Barkley, a certain tract or parcel of Land, containing three acres by Survey bearing date the 19th day of January 1827 lying in the Tenth District in Haywood Copunty in range four and Section six and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a stake the South East Corner of A. Hightowers 18 acre entry on C. Jones West boundary line, thence south fifteen and a half poles to a stake in the bason with two white oaks and a small beech pointers, thence west thirty one poles to a stake. Thence north fifteen and a half poles to a stake. On Hightowers line, thence East thirty one poles to the Beginning. With the hereditaments and appertenances. To Have and To Hold the said tract or parcel of Land, with its appertenances to the said William Polk and his heirs forever. In witness whereof, Sam Houston, Governor of the State of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at Nashiville, on the 24th day of November in the year of one Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven, and of the Independence of the United Stated the 52d
