Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century Women's Portraits, circa 1880s-1910s
Collection contains twelve portrait photographs of women taken in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Most of the photographs have no identifying information except for studio information, and some of the photographs are mounted.
The photographs were produced by a number of different studios in the United States: B. La Marche in Chicago, Illinois; Beckford Photo Studio in Boston, Massachussetts; Baron in Detroit, Michigan; Cheney and Christmas in Charlotte, Michigan; Colby in Manchester, New Hampshire; R. A. Lewis Photo-Artist in New York; and Westminster Photograph Company in Providence, Rhode Island.
Only three of the photographed women are identified: Claire Anderson, Grace Horst, and Myrta Metsinger. Horst’s portrait, dated 1901, is the only photograph in the collection with a date.
