Samuel Mainster Lecture Notes, 1827-1834
This book contains notes that Samuel Mainster took on lectures he attended while studying at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. The first section documents presentations given by Nathaniel Potter, Professor of the Theory and Practice of Medicine, concerning treatments for such ailments as jaw fractures, cholera, rheumatism, and asthma. The second section shows lectures given by Professor of Chemistry Elisha De Butts on the sources and properties of various elements, chemicals, and bodily fluids. The final section of the manuscript houses recipes for medicines that Mainster copied from Doctor Ashton Alexander's collection.
