The Correspondence series is arranged into 5 subseries. The first is Family Correspondence (1931-1979), which is itself split into three sub-sub-series: Family Correspondence with Beauford Delaney (1954-1973), Family Correspondence with Joseph Delaney (1931-1979), and Family Correspondence between Other Members (1964). The second subseries is Identified Correspondence (1941-1978), which includes all letters and postcards and other documents to and from Beauford Delaney from identified correspondents who are not family members.Some letters to Joseph Delaney can also be found in this series. The third subseries is Partially Identified Correspondence (1954-1970, undated), where we may know part of the correspondent's name but have not fully identified them. The fourth subseries is Unidentified Correspondence (1953-1975, undated). The fifth and final subseries is Calling Cards and Notes (1920s-1970s). These notes usually contain contact information and/or reference a meeting, event, artwork or book.
