Letter, Nathaniel G. Taylor in Washington, D. C. to J. B. Brownlow, 1869 January 4

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 25
Identifier: II

ALS. Says that he is enclosing an article for the Whig. Says that he has sent a copy of the Charter to Philip P. C. Nelson. Asks that Brownlow and Nelson and other supporters of the charter consult with each other and reach a mutual understanding in order to make sure it does not come to a vote until likely to succeed. Suggests that at the same time similar charters be proposed for Middle and West Tennessee. Suggests that they consult with Senter and Singletary Taylor. States that the charter will work grander results for the state and especially our portion of it than anything that has ever been done for us. States that he has added O. P. Temple to the list of incorporators. Says that the office (Indian Office?) will not apparently be transferred.
