ALS. Says that going through some old material that he has run across several letter from Parson Brownlow. Mentions how Parson Brownlow had helped him to get an attorney generalship. Says that he and the Parson, despite differing on the Civil War, had been close friends and how he visits the Parson's grave in Old Gray Cemetery. Says that John's mother said that he was going to write a biography of his father. States that his hope is to live long enough to see it. Offers to help in whatever way his limited powers
may be of service.
