Letter from C. S. Crofut to his Dear father
from Chattanooga, Tenn., during the Yellow Fever epidemic, 1878 October 16
In this letter, C. S. Crofut writes to his father of the yellow fever epidemic in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Crofut describes how the disease suspended business in Chattanooga and that "the people are dying like sheep." He also states that "Towns and Countys have quarantined against each other with armed guards to scare men from the infected parts, and some places let criminals leave when they feign symptoms of Yellow Fever."
