This collection features information obtained by Thomas B. Paxton Jr. between 1902-1930 while researching the John and Rhoda (Morris) Wharton family of Tennessee. Included is material related to Tennessee Senator Jesse Wharton. The information appears mostly as letters sent by Paxton to family, lawyers, and counties, in response to his inquiries. In addition to the Whartons, the collection has research on connected families (notably the Swanns, Galts, Farrars, and Lesters, all of whom appear in the research), and a few images.
