Presented to James Merrill Safford by Andrew H. Edgar in 1850 (or possibly 1838 as both dates appear in the inscription). The book contains Safford's geological observations on various locations in Tennessee. Additional pages are stuck in throughout the notebook and comments are also written on the inside of the back cover.
