Note on Mrs. Pillow and her brother-in-law General Pillow by Mary Heal found on page with note from Carrie [Liyars], 1880 December 30
This collection contains the 1878-1884 autograph album of Mary Heal from London, Ontario, Canada. It contains poems, Bible verses, notes, and autographs from friends and family, mostly in London, Ont., Knoxville, Tenn., and South Carolina. There are also drawings, stickers, and watercolor paintings. Some of the autographs are from the Heal, Nesbitt, and Kingsmill families. Most of the notes are not headed, but some that are say Dear Polly/Pollie or Dear Annie, while most are to Mrs. Heal. There is a separate folder, which contains loose material from the book, including letters, notes, and paper hearts. The only post-1900 item is a 1952 letter from Mary Heal's daughter Alice to Hazel Burbage of Knoxville, Tenn., about the book and other belongings.
