Correspondence, 1858-1924
This collection features a number of letters, legal documents, receipts, photographs and other papers from the second half of the 19th century through the first quarter of the 20th century. The correspondence contains a letter in German dated 1858, as well as more local materials from Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee. Among the legal documents are a deed of land purchase from Arkansas, a deed of purchase for a cemetery plot in Pennsylvania, and a teacher's license for Erle Drake in Miller County, Ga. The folder labeled Other Papers contains some handwritten notes, a list of the men in the 17th Tennessee Regiment, Company H, and part of a handwritten sermon from 1836. Two of the photographs in this collection are labeled Dora Hunt on the verso. Also included are the photograph of an unidentified woman and a tintype of a man. The last folder contains deposit slips, a McMinnville tax receipt from 1898, and three loan slips.
