Urias Fleshman Letter, 1864 March 27
In this March 27, 1864 letter to his sister, Urias Fleshman discusses his life in the military and conveys information gathered from other people's letters. He reports that he marches frequently, not staying more than a week at a time in one camp, and plans to serve his first three years without re-enlisting. The troops get plenty to eat, including beans, rice, coffee, sugar, and some fresh beef.
