B. W. Martin Letter, 1897 July 1

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Harriman Tenn July 1st 1897

Dear Madam

I take pleasure in sending you a test card by which I can fit you with spectacles as well as if you were at my trial case. The matter of using good lenses is very important, many people have had their eyes ruined by using cheap and imperfectly ground lenses. My glasses are fine crystals accurately ground and polished. I put them in good steel frames (spectacles or eye glass frames) and guarantee them to give satisfaction. Hold the test card 12 or 15 inches from the eyes and write me the number of the smallest line you can read distinctly with out glasses, and I will guarantee a perfect fit. To introduce these glasses I have put them at the low price of $100 per pair, which amount you can send me in paper or postal order, and I will send the spectacles by return mail. Its to my responsibility I refer you to the First National Bank, A. C. Scott Mayor or C B. Sevier Postmaster all of Harriman Tenn. When your watch gets out of order if you will pack it in a box with cotton, and send it to me by mail or express, I will put it in good order at as low price as good work can be done for. I you wish I will write you what the work will cost and await your reply. We stock of watches, clocks, Jewelry, knives, forks [unreadable] and at low prices to suite the times.

Yours truly,

B W Martin
