Memphis, Tenn., Construction Company Ledger, 1926-1934
This collection contains the ledger book for a Memphis, Tenn., construction company (possibly G. W. Lewis Construction Company) from 1926 to 1934. Each project heading lists materials and cost, including employee names and salaries. Some of the projects listed include Vanderbilt University, Manassas Negro School, Southwestern University, Rialto Theatre, Lamar Theatre in Memphis, Tenn., J. C. Barker's Filling Station, Dr. Wallace's Sanitarium, Lamar Drug Store, Neshoba Farms, and many more. Many of these projects occurred in Memphis, Nashville, and Jackson, Tenn. Some of the employees include G. W. Lewis and John Williams. Some of the customers include L E. Joyner (for the theatres), the Board of Education, James E. Fiares (for Adler Apartments), Rock City Construction Company in Nashville, Tenn., and John J. Walsh (president of the North Memphis Savings Bank).
