To Mother
Waterloo Iowa
I received your letter this evening and was glad to hear from you again for I thought that you had forgotten me becse you did not write sooner I am still enjoying good health as could be expected we just got in off another Scout we took from 30 to forty prisoners and killed 8 or ten and wounded about that many mortally we made a pretty good haul that time I wish we could do so every day there was none of our men hurt we may have killed more than that for they was crossing the Obion River I guess that we sunk a good many more of the damd cusses while they was trying to swim it
I think that they will keep a little more scarce now for a while I am getting so I like to kill the rebs pretty well it is pretty good sport, I am glad that you can recommend me with all those things for I shall be pretty hungry when I come I don’t know when I shall start there is not much prospect of them filling out furlough at the present but when they do I am one that is in for it well I don’t know of any thing else to with so I will close at the present I remain your son Uriah Scott
