Dear sons & family

I write you a short letter to day, as I am in a hurry, most one letter from you since I wrote last, we are all well boys are going to school, I was at Sweetwater last week, son Calvin in Knoxville he told me that Janes health is not good. rest well stayed part of the night, and day, at Ferd’s, they are well, had no rain to wet the ground since Aug the 1st the days are hot nights cool, we will not start on our trip until we see frost, perhaps, I see time table on Boat in paper that you sent me, have not got table on road further than Chattanooga at hand, judging from the time that far, I suppose if we leave Knoxville 4-15 AM, we will get to the Boat same evening at 8, but I may be mistaken in that, if this is correct we must start Monday or Thursday write us soon, give us further information, will write shortly again
