Material in Box 2 dates from May 28, 1886 through December 27, 1888. Most of the correspondences were from John. M. McBryde (who was picked to serve as University President but never took office). Other major correspondents during this time were Edward Joynes, Charles W. Dabney (University President from 1887-1904), and other College Trustees.Material from Box 3 dates from January 30, 1889 through January 24, 1907. The main correspondents from this time include Edward S. Joynes (an influential faculty member), Charles Dabney (University President from 1887-1904), and Samuel M. Arnell (a Tennessee Congressman and local historian).
