From the Collection:

This collection houses two scrapbooks produced by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Each contains a summation of the University's history from 1794 to 1897 on the inside cover and official University photographs of the main buildings on campus. The first scrapbook was never used but the second belonged to University of Tennessee student Harriette Locke Arnell and documents her time at the University from September 1919 to June 1920. It includes photographs of Arnell and her friends around the campus and Knoxville, handwritten poems and notes, clippings from the Orange and White, a published wedding announcement for Robert Miller and Gertrude Williams, letters addressed to Arnell, and invitations from the Omega Sorority.

Interested researchers may also wish to consult the papers of Harriette Arnell Farrar's paternal grandfather, U. S. Representative Samuel Mayes Arnell Sr., housed in MS.0163: Samuel M. Arnell Papers, 1894-1901, MS.0823: Samuel Mayes Arnell Collection, 1782-1937, MS.1297: Samuel M. Arnell Papers, 1865-1903, and MS.2488: Samuel Mayes Arnell Photograph, undated for more information about the Arnell family.
