Scrapbook 1, 1933-1939
This collection houses two scrapbooks compiled by Arthur G. Seymour documenting his time at the University of Tennessee. Scrapbook 1 contains numerous articles from the student newspaper showing Seymour’s election as student body president, the annual tradition Aloha Oe, events at the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and the University’s football team. It also includes newspaper marriage announcements, invitations to Kappa Sigma dances, articles on graduation, a birthday card from Seymour’s mother, a postcard from Indiana, a calendar of University events for the school year 1939-1940, various photographs of Seymour, and a special from Time magazine outlining the background for war against Germany.
Scrapbook 2 include photographs of dances, fraternity meetings, and dinners, postcards of the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, and newspaper articles discussing University of Tennessee events, especially the 1939 football season. There are also many newspaper articles document Seymour's activities and honors. The collection also includes an obituary for Arthur Seymour printed in 2002.
