Biographical/Historical Note
Léon Bazalgette (1873-1928) was a noted scholar who wrote and translated several books. The French version of his work Walt Whitman: The Man and His Work was published in 1908 with an English translation in 1920. He also wrote Henry Thoreau, Bachelor of Nature.
Carleton Eldredge Noyes (1872-1950) taught poetry and English. He published works and translations, including An Approach to Walt Whitman (1910).
