C. B. Alexander Receipt
The C. B. Alexander Receipt Folder contains receipts, checks, letters and envelopes, account books, credit and registration certificates, and membership cards for the Order of the Railroad Telegraphers, as well as a photo negative of a soldier and postcard of the Knoxville Deaf and Dumb School. The items date from 1916-1923.
Many receipts are from Loftis Bros. & Co -- National Jewelers; J. S. Hall's Sons Clothing Store; and Charles Scribner's Sons. Interesting items include a photo negative of a soldier (probably World War I), a postcard of the Knoxville Deaf and Dumb School, and a University of Tennessee tuition receipt.

Biographical/Historical Note
Cyrus Bauman Alexander was born on April 18, 1892 in Harlan, Kentucky. He entered the University of Tennessee in September 1917 and graduated on June 6, 1923 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was a railroad telegrapher for L&N Systems. Alexander died May 10, 1974, and is buried in Knox County.
