Michael Lofaro Folklore Class Papers

 Collection
Identifier: MS-2641

This group of material is made up of student projects from Dr. Michael Lofaro's class at the University of Tennessee on folklore. There is a wide range of topics from Appalachian quilts, superstitions, and home remedies to drinking games, BDSM slang, and jump rope rhymes. Audiotapes, videotapes, computer disks, and photographs accompany some of the projects.

The collection is serialized chronologically by semester (i.e. Series I -- Spring 1999, II -- Summer 1999, III -- Fall 1999, IV -- Spring 2001, V -- Summer 2005), and then within each series organized alphabetically by student's last names. The title or subject of each student's project follows his or her name. A project that did not fit into one folder was separated arbitrarily or by material (paper, audiotapes, etc.) into multiple folders. If a collection was removed from a folder, a binder, or a manila envelope, it still remains in its original order.

This is a continuation of The Michael Lofaro Class Papers in MS.1257, MS.1336, MS.1545, and MS.1891. Other folklore collections can be found in MS.1169: James B. Gardner Manuscript, and MS.2021: Folklore Collection, and the Norbert F. Riedl Collections (MS.0954, MS.1075, and MS.1168).
