This collection consists of Stanley Vance's personal files, including correspondence, information on Vance's business trips, books he has written, essays he had published, and several personal notebooks. Overall this collection is mostly business related and spans Vance's entire career.

This collection is split into four series: Correspondence, Trips, Books and Publications, and Notebooks. The Correspondence series contains letters both to and from Stanley Vance, mostly business related. The Trips series contains information about the places Stanley Vance visited on business trips. The Books series contains books written by Vance. The Publications series contains numerous essays written by Vance for publication. The Notebooks series contains several of Vance's personal notebooks.

Abstract

This collection consists of the personal files of Stanley Vance, a former professor of management at the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration. Included are correspondence, information on Vance's business trips, books he has written, essays he had published, and several personal notebooks.

Biographical/Historical Note

Stanley Vance earned his PhD in Industrial Administration at the University of Pennsylvania in 1950. He has held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Connecticut, and the University of Massachusetts. From 1956 to 1960 Vance was the Dean of Business Administration at Kent State University, and from 1967 to 1970, he was the Editor of the Academy of Management Journal. His career would later see him be an H. T. Miner Professor of Business Administration at the University of Oregon. He also was a Professor of Management at the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration. He has written several influential books and publications on the subject of Business Management.

Collection consists of five boxes. Material is divided into four series: Correspondence, Trips, Books and Publications, and Notebooks.
