Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. James L. Pointer grew up on a farm in Heiskell, Tenn. (Knox County), and flew as a pilot in WWII. He was shot in the leg during battle, and returned home in 1946 after 2 years in service. He used the G. I. Bill to graduate with an agriculture degree from the University of Tennessee in 1949.
