This collection contains a copy of the Jewish Holy Scriptures, printed by the U. S. Army in 1942 with an introduction by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. There is also a letter from Ralph J. Mensch in Memphis to his parents Mr. & Mrs. George Mensch, Sr. It describes the uniforms and other items he received from the army, and it discusses his schedule for the day (Victory in Europe Day).

Abstract

Mensch in Memphis to his parents Mr. & Mrs. George Mensch, Sr. It describes the uniforms and other items he received from the army, and it discusses his schedule for the day (Victory in Europe Day).

Biographical/Historical Note

Ralph J. Mensch was born on June 3rd, 1927 to George and Violet Mensch in East Bangor, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Navy on May 5th, 1945, and served until November 14th, 1947. He trained at the Naval Training Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He married Theodora (Teddie) Sebulski (1930-2007) in January of 1957 and the couple moved to New Jersey. They had at least two children, Gary Ralph Mensch and Gaillyn Mensch-Cassaro. Ralph Mensch died on June 2nd, 2008.
