This collection, dated 1893-1941, primarily consists of correspondence between Jefferson McCarn, Attorney General for the State of Tennessee and the Chief Prosecutor during the Cooper-Sharp Trial in 1909, and his associates. Both private and professional correspondence can be found in the collection. Some legal materials are also included.

Biographical/Historical Note
Jefferson McCarn (1861-1942) served as the Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, and as the chief prosecutor during the 1909 trial of Robin Cooper, who was accused of the murder of former Senator Edward Carmack in Nashville. McCarn later became the Attorney General for Hawaii.
