Norman and Roberta Gregory Correspondence
This collection consist of approximately 80 letters addressed to Roberta Gregory in Roanoke, Va. during World War I. Series I (1917-1919) contains love letters to Roberta from her husband Norman James Gregory, an engineer. Series II (1918-1919) contains letters to Roberta from various members of her family. In one letter dated 1917, October 20, Roberta's brother James asks what she will do if husband Norman is called over to France.

Biographical/Historical Note
James Norman Gregory was born on November 10th, 1889 in Martinsville, Virginia to Joseph A. and Mary (Norman) Gregory. He married Roberta Shannon (1892-1962). James Norman Gregory died on July 8th, 1962, and is buried with his wife Roberta in Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke, Virginia.
