Abstract
This collection contains one framed photograph by H. Carl Waite (front row, right side, hat over left elbow) of post office employees in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The photograph is dated May 19, 1919.
Biographical/Historical Note
Herbert Carl Waite was born on October 11, 1887 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to parents Clarence Henry and Nellie Viola. His mother died in 1896. Around 1908, the family moved and was living in Bradley County, Tennessee. In 1910, Waite moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. On October 11, 1914, he married Estella Eugenia Shaw, and the couple had two children. He worked for U.S. Postal Service in Chattanooga for many years. His wife died in 1969. Sometime between his wife's death and 1974, he moved to California where he died on June 1, 1974.
