This collection contains various research done by Lynette Wrenn on cotton and the cotton industry largely in preparation for her work Cinderella of the New South: A History of the Cottonseed Industry, 1855–1955 (1995). Materials include trading rules, index cards, photocopies, research files, and other papers. The majority of this collection is made up of research notes and citations jotted down on index cards.

Materials include trading rules, index cards, photocopies, research files, and other papers.

Biographical/Historical Note

Lynette Boney Wrenn was born in 1928. She began teaching in 1949 at a high school in Hamlet, North Carolina, where she stayed until 1951. In 1952, she received an MA from Harvard University. Wrenn began teaching at what is now Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1958. In 1983, she received her PhD from Memphis State University. She has written several works including Cinderella of the New South: A History of the Cottonseed Industry, 1855-1955 which was published in 1995 by University of Tennessee Press.
